City of Tulsa Releases 4 Requests For Proposals Involving Route 66

Tulsa Route 66 Main Street

The City of Tulsa is looking ahead to the 2026 Route 66 Centennial and wants ideas for new attractions along the Mother Road.

  • Get Your Kicks: There’s nothing to cry about when it comes to celebrating Route 66 and it’s path through the heart of Tulsa. Cry Baby Hill is a big focus of the RFP. It’s a hot spot for Tulsa Tough spectators but the City wants a commercial development that provides retail and a possible hotel.

  • Digital Destination Dedication: The City is looking for a technology consultant to create a web and mobile product that educates the user and promotes Route 66. The ideal digital storytelling app would feature an outdoor museum with possible animation, 360 views, gamification and other features for the user via QR codes.

Restaurant

Bittersweet Plans are Made for a Brookside Restaurant

Freya

Freya restaurant on Brookside announced it will close April 13th but a new concept is brewing for the space.

  • When One Door Closes: It’s with a mix of sadness and gratitude that the JTR Restaurant Group concept Freya will close. It an e-mail to customers they said “we knew would be a daring concept for this market. What blew us away was those of you that fell in love with the restaurant over the years.” A new concept will move into the space at 34th and Peoria Ave.

  • Last Super: Freya will be available for private events and catering over the next several months. We’ve tried the restaurant that has an amazing new happy hour menu. Spicy roasted pumpkin soup anyone? You can still enjoy the spectacular menu items that include Nordic noshing on Swedish meatballs, smoked duck and the sweetest sweet potato bake around, through April 13th.
