Exploring the Increasing Trend in Tulsa's PSO Electricity Bills

PEMA

For PSO (Public Service Company of Oklahoma) customers, the pattern of rising electricity bills might seem relentless. The company has recently announced another rate hike, promising an average increase of $3.57 starting in the summer of 2023.

  • Bill Boom: Joseph Price, a PSO customer, has seen his bills climb significantly, from $146 in December 2020 to between $220 and $240 in 2023, a 51% jump. This rise is despite using approximately the same amount of electricity.

  • Clean Energy Claims: PSO representatives assert that the rate increase will allow the company to make necessary investments for a more reliable power supply and to reinforce the electrical grid. This means outages would be less frequent, and the move toward cleaner energy sources could save money in the future.
