Mayor G.T. Bynum Proposes His Final City of Tulsa Budget

Tulsa Daily

Tulsa’s 2024-2025 proposed budget backs a powerful punch as Mayor Bynum’s last.

  • Show Me the Money: The 24/25 $1.023-Billion budget calls for a safer Tulsa. Some features include restoring the City's emergency operating reserve to a level of 8.5% of the general fund, protecting compensation increases implemented over the past several years and providing for an across-the-board pay increase for all employees in the amount of 2% in the coming year.

  • Room for More: The budget also calls for enhancing the Tulsa Fire side of the 911 Center by adding two positions and a new app that will give instantaneous direct connection between first responders and citizens. The budget calls for follow through on big capital projects like operations of the new Public Safety Center and Zink Lake.

See Mayor Bynum’s complete budget speech HERE.

5×5 Art Show and Sale Kicks off Tonight

Tulsa Arts Coalition

A 20 year art tradition is lined up in support of the Tulsa Arts Coalition.

  • Calling All Artists: The 5 x 5 Show and Sale features exquisite art on a 5×5 canvas. Months earlier, TAC gives any Tulsa artist who wants one a blank 5 x 5 canvas. They paint, collage, sculpt, embellish, or sketch on the canvas creating a tiny original work of art. Artists have ranged from iconic figures such as P.S. Gordon to beginning art students.

  • Talented Tulsans: 100+ artists will be featured and each canvas is $55 regardless of the artist. The event happens at TAC Gallery at 9 E. Reconciliation Way. It naturally starts at 5:55p. It runs through May 18th. Tonight’s opening reception is free and open the public as part of the First Friday Art Crawl in the Tulsa Arts District.
