Tulsa’s only black owned book store is turning a page and expanding with new location in Historic Greenwood.

  • Starting a New Chapter: Fulton Street Books & Coffee is ready to open its doors. Situated next to Greenwood Rising, the new location will place Onikah Asamoa-Caesar’s nationally-renown business on historic Black Wall Street.

  • Plot Twists: Fulton Street started 3 years ago with a pop up concept and then set up a small storefront at Tulsa International Airport. A grand opening celebration happens tonight and customers are invited to start enjoying shopping for books, bringing the family in to read and enjoy some fresh roasted Topeca Coffee.

Tulsa Non-Profit ‘BeHeard Movement’ Showcases Services During Giving Month

BeHeard Movement

December is Giving Month but BeHeard Movement offers its dignifying services year round.

  • Homeless But Hopeful: BeHeard Movement’s Evan Dougoud, spends donation money to provide a shower trailer that allows homeless people to have hot showers with heated walls, heated floors and an air conditioner for the summer months. Another trailer offers haircuts, laundry and extra showers at zero cost to those who need them.

  • Fresh Start: BeHeard also helps the homeless suit up and find jobs. They’ve kicked off their 2024 fundraising campaign with a goal to get 1,000 people to sign up to sponsor a shower for $10 per month.

Green Country Boxer Wins National Title and Prepares for Olympic Team Qualifiers

28 year old professional boxer Neida Ibarra is ready to knock out Olympics tryouts.

  • Mama Said Knock You Out: Neida Ibarra made it to the top of her weight class for boxing around the country and now she is punching her way into the Olympic trial boxing team qualifiers in Louisiana to compete for a spot on Team USA.

  • Hit Me With Your Best Shot: Ibarra is from Owasso. She and her coach, Luis Ramirez, trained night and day to get ready for the 2023 Golden Glove that she’s won. Ibarra will compete during the first week of December, fighting 14 girls for a spot on Team USA.
