New Pop Up Sourdough Bread Business is Open in Downtown Tulsa

Downtown Tulsa Partnership

Give homemade bread this Christmas from downtown Tulsa’s newest pop-up shop, Sourdough Tulsa.

  • Breaking Bread: When Brenna and Lawrence MacAlpine moved to Tulsa from Maine, there was a lot to learn. Making a good sourdough starter wasn’t one of them. Tulsa Remote, a program that pays remote workers to call T-town home, brought them here. When they aren’t working on their full time gigs, they’re working dough.

  • Delectable Dough: Sourdough Tulsa is a new pop-up shop located at 11 East Reconciliation Way. It’s part of the Downtown Days of Wonder Pop-Up Shops. Cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, and pizza dough are all on the menu. If you are into DIY this Christmas, you can buy one of their starters.

  • Harvest Time: Food on the Move is celebrating the fruits of their labor by harvesting it’s first batch of hydroponic produce. The 400 square foot urban farming pod is located at The Common Good in Tulsa. The two nonprofits teamed up to help find a cure for what the USDA has deemed a food desert in west Tulsa.

  • Going Green: The farming pod holds 5,000 heads of lettuce and takes about 7 weeks to harvest them through a wall hanging system that feeds them water and man made sunlight. Project leaders hope to get 250 pounds of lettuce out to the community each week.
