Show Me the Honey! Honeycomb Harvest Time at Jenks Bee Farm Results in Gobs of Golden Goods
Where else can you find honey soaked pecans, honey skin care and buckets of bees? Roark Acres Honey Farms retail shop in Jenks, of course!
The Real Bees Knees: Honey harvesting season is underway and it’s usually the golden girls of the hive that get all the credit. “Everyone that does anything of value in the beehive is female,” says Michael Roark of Roark Acres Honey Farms. He and his team are pulling honey from about 1,500 hives. Bees need honey for energy and it starts as nectar that bee babes bring back to the hive and place into combs.
Bee-Hind the Scenes: Honey collected during a 4-week span determines how much product Roark Acres Honey will sell in a year. Healthy helpings of honey, sweet treats and eats can all be found at the Jenks storefront Monday through Saturday.
