Some Green Country Schools Named ‘Best’ in U.S. News Rankings

We made the list! Here’s the breakdown of schools in our area among the best.

  • Teaching Tulsa: Some Tulsa Schools are among the best in Oklahoma according to the U.S. News Rankings. When it comes to high schools, Booker T. Washington is tops with a #1 in Oklahoma and #914th in the nation. Claremore’s Sequoyah High comes in at #2 and Thomas Edison in Tulsa is #3 in the State. Jenks High School made the top 5.

  • How We Score: Bixby North Intermediate School made the list of top middle schools and Bixby North Elementary made the top 5 when it comes to Oklahoma elementary schools. The study used 6 criteria to rank the schools like college preparedness, state assessments, graduation rate, and more

Killers of the Flower Moon Receives 7 Golden Globe Nominations

I’d like to thank the Osage Nation for this award. At least, that’s what we hope is said if they win!

  • The Award Goes To: Apple’s globally acclaimed movie “Killers of the Flower Moon” scored 7 Golden Globe nominations including Best Motion Picture, Best Director Martin Scorsese, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Score, alongside nods for outstanding performances by stars Lily Gladstone, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.

  • Notable Nation: The film was shot in Osage County where the town of Pawhuska was transformed into a movie set for months. City leaders say they’ve been happy to roll out the red carpet for visitors from across the country. Many sets for the movie were built in neighboring cities like Bartlesville where there’s a boom happening.

Tulsa Oilers Announce a Family Fun Day Saturday

The Tulsa Oilers are scoring big when it comes to fascinating fans.

  • The Puck Stops Here: Tulsa’s BOK Center will be home to the Tulsa Oilers Hockey family fun day where the first 300 fans will get a pack of free trading cards. It all happens Sunday the 17th with a 3:05pm door opening and a 4:05 puck drop.

  • Show Me How to Skate: Fans can lace up and take to the ice for a post game skate with the players. As if the family fun won’t be cool enough, the first 500 kids will get a free mini hockey stick. Make plans to help the Oliers ice out the Wichita Thunder!

OSU Expanding STEM Education in Tulsa

OSU Polytech is launching with a focus on improving Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) access across the state.

  • Cowboy Country: The OSU Polytech initiative will help students learn exactly what they need for the industry they’ve chosen. The new plan is to offer students flexible learning options and real-world learning experiences at OSU’s Tulsa and Okmulgee locations.

  • Credit is Due: The announcement was made Tuesday at the Helmerich Research Center at OSU Tulsa. Leaders want to make it easier for students to access workforce development education in high-demand fields from certificate to doctoral. Committees will form to help get credits from campus to campus more easily so students can graduate.

Rhema Lights On and Bright With More Than 3M Lights

The annual light display is up and lit at Rhema Bible Church in Broken Arrow.

  • Light of the World: The Rhema light show has grown every year since the holiday tradition started in 1982. Millions of LED lights are draped over the 110-acre campus. You can see them from 5:30p to 11:30p now through Jan. 1st, rain or shine. The display is expected to draw over half a million visitors from Oklahoma this year.  

  • Bustling and Bright: Bundle up and walk through the light maze to see festive figures like a gingerbread family, Noah's Ark, 3D angels, a Christmas tree forest, a 50-figure nativity scene and more. You can also stay in the warm car and drive the lights. Did we mention it’s free? Just bring some cash for hot cocoa, popcorn, and carriage rides.
