City of Tulsa Takes New Steps to Help the Homeless

City Lights Foundation of Oklahoma

Coming home is a luxury that is sadly not possible for hundreds of Tulsans. The City Lights Foundation of Oklahoma has been chosen to help.

  • Hope for the Homeless: There’s going to be a new low barrier homeless shelter in Tulsa. It’s a referral-based program for unsheltered people who can’t access other available services and temporary housing options. The Mayor’s office asked for organizations to apply, and the City Lights Foundation made the cut to begin the contract process and make plans to move the shelter forward.

  • Unlocking Doors: City Lights Foundation has a great history of walking homeless people along the path from living on the streets to handing over housing keys. The low barrier shelter will act as a navigation center to get the process started. While the specific site for the shelter has not be chosen, the estimated capacity for services is around 50-75 households at a time.

Take Your Dog to Philbrook Sunday

Philbrook Museum of Art

PhilBARK Dog Days are here! Take your favorite 4-legged family member to sniff out the gorgeous gardens.

  • Something to Wag About: Tail waggers are welcome this Sunday from 9a to 5p. Bring your own bowl to fill at water fountains and enjoy a stroll and outdoor seating. Dog Days will happen every third Saturday this Fall as well. Leashed dogs are allowed throughout the outdoor Gardens but not inside the galleries. Service animals are always welcome.

  • Barking Good Time: While Philbrook wants the only rule to be to have fun, there are a few guidelines for your perfect pets. Dogs must be socialized and well-behaved and current on all vaccinations and registrations. Owners need to be ready to clean up after them and hit the waste stations on-site quickly.

Can Tulsa Create the Best Irish Festival in the World? Organizers Say Yes!

Tulsa Irish Festival

Tulsa Irish Festival is happening March 8th through 10th. It’ll be packed with family fun and a rich tapestry of Irish music, culture, food and dance.

  • Color Me Lucky: Tulsa Irish Festival organizers are cutting no corners with the event that was born on St. Patrick’s Day 2017. Picture an authentic Irish experience, not a St. Patty’s Day street party. The little leprechauns kid zone is is managed by a former Irish kid camp organizer. There will be whiskey tastings, friendly animals and Irish bands from around the world. It’s like an upscale concert for the lucky!

  • The River Runs Green: It all happens at River West Festival Park with VIP experiences, a wide selection of beers and Irish fusion food. There’s nighttime fun too. Those who feel lucky can enjoy exclusive entertainment at the Brut Hotel at Irishfest After Dark.
