Let’s play pickleball! It’s a growing trend fit for all ages and a Bixby developer wants to build a permanent facility for food and fun.

  • Game, Set, Match: Courts and Commons is coming to Bixby with 8 indoor pickleball courts and one outdoor court that will sit on an island in the middle of a pond. Several local food concepts will set up shop inside the food court area known as the commons with a food hall to relax and fuel up before the big serve.

  • Multi-Use Project : Josh Juarez is the creator of Josh’s Sno Shack and the brains behind Courts and Commons. It is the second phase of development in Bixby called the Village of Scereno with outdoor green space for yard games, and the pickleball court on the water will double as a stage.

The City of Tulsa Will Create New Public Safety Center in Former State Farm Headquarters Building

State Farm

The public safety center is another big topic discussed at Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynums recent State of the City address.

  • Safe and Secure: The City will buy the old State Farm headquarters near 51st and 129th in east Tulsa for $25.5M. Who’s moving in? The building will hold the Tulsa Police Department and Fire Department HQ along with area emergency management, City medical and the police department’s Mingo Valley division.

  • Voter Approved: “Voters said loud and clear at the polls in August that they no longer want Tulsa Police leadership working in a failing building, they no longer want Tulsa Fire Department leadership working in a flood plain, and they no longer want Tulsa Area Emergency Management working in a building without reliable utilities during an emergency,” Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum said. The funds for the move will come from Tulsa’s GO Bond.

The deal closes in February of 2024. Read more about the well maintained building and the big move HERE.
