  • Baby It’s Cold Outside: Mother Nature keeps us guessing but she can’t take away our outdoor winter stargazing. Iglootown is open and it’s a memory you won’t freeze out. Visit the website, reserve a heated igloo, gather your friends and order up something warm and toasty.

  • Brrrrrr Bites: Grab a spicy chicken sandwich or charcuterie board to go along with that spiked apple cider, create a playlist, bring a board game and plan for an extra special view of Tulsa’s downtown skyline. The igloos are available through March 26th. Blankets are included!

Tulsa Donut Shop Thriving After Break-In and Vandalization

Despite being broken into by vandals earlier this month, June’s Donuts and Cafe is open and thriving.

  • Dough for Donuts: You’ve probably seen the little pink building at 11th and Detroit in Downtown Tulsa. It’s owners wake up well before dawn to bring you fresh baked donuts each weekday morning. June’s Donuts was able to raise money to quickly reopen after much of their building was destroyed.

  • Swag for Shortie: The shop is named after the owner’s cutest little husky, June. You can get an old fashioned glazed donut, iced coffee or a cool t-shirt all in one stop just off the Broken Arrow Expressway Detroit Street exit. Go ahead, stop in, grab a dozen and impress the co-workers today!

Tulsa Software Engineering School to Hold Gaming Tournament

Where else can you become a software engineer with no experience at all but Holberton School in downtown.

  • Super Smash: There will be an epic live eSports tournament Friday at Tulsa’s premier programming school, Holberton Tulsa. Up to 64 local gamers will battle head-to-head in a live Super Smash Bros. tournament. The event is free and open to watch.

  • Code Connected: Founded in Silicon Valley, and brought to Tulsa by the George Kaiser Family Foundation, Holberton Tulsa opened in 2019. The innovative software engineering school with a 20-month curriculum helps remove barriers to entry in the tech field and is dedicated to meeting the educational needs of Tulsa’s expanding tech community.

The City of Tulsa is Moving Forward With New Public Safety Center

State Farm

The public safety center will house multiple public safety departments under one roof.

  • Safe and Secure: The City has entered into contract to buy the old State Farm headquarters near 51st and 129th in east Tulsa for $25.5M. Who’s moving in? Tulsa Police Department, Fire Department HQ along with area emergency management, City medical and the police department’s Mingo Valley division will move in after the February deal closes.

  • Voter Approved: “Voters said loud and clear at the polls in August that they no longer want Tulsa Police leadership working in a failing building, they no longer want Tulsa Fire Department leadership working in a flood plain, and they no longer want Tulsa Area Emergency Management working in a building without reliable utilities during an emergency,” Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum said. The funds for the move will come from Tulsa’s GO Bond.

Another New Restaurant Concept is Headed to Downtown Tulsa’s Guthrie Green

En Fuego

En Fuego will open December 5th and will offer baja-inspired Mexican food.

  • It’s Getting Hot in Here:  En Fuego Chef Cody Shell said he’s not trying to reinvent the wheel but trying to elevate the taco stand. It’s a casual stop at the main Guthrie Green building that originally had a Brookside presence.

  • Bring Back the Dip: Not everyone knows what is inside En Fuego’s famous Bob Marley Dip but it’s enough to generate some excitement. The family friendly food experience is perfect for a day at the park without having to pack your own picnic. Just bring a blanket!
