Plans to Develop 56 Acres in North Tulsa Progress Forward

After more than 40 public meetings, an advisory committee will be established to oversee plans to develop Tulsa’s Kirkpatrick Heights.

• Draw Up a Plan: Work to redevelop 56 acres of land currently owned by the City and Tulsa Development Authority is one step closer with the formation of the committee that will help implement the Kirkpatrick Heights Greenwood Master Plan.

• Join the Team: The Master Plan has been approved by the Tulsa City Council and includes mixed use ideas that ensure the social and economic benefits of redevelopment captured by the local community. 7 to 9 members will sit on the advisory committee and will be in place by late 2024 or early 2025.

Tulsa Area Schools Make ‘2024 Best Schools’ Lists

Some Tulsa Public Schools are doing the happy dance after being placed on the Niche.com Best Schools list.

• Simply the Best: Booker T. Washington High School made #2 Best Public High School in Oklahoma with Jenks High School coming in at #4. Tulsa’s Deborah Brown Community School is named #6 Best Public Elementary School in Oklahoma and Jenks West Intermediate Elementary is #11 for Best Oklahoma Middle School.

• Sounding Board: Niche uses some serious number crunching to choose the best schools. The analysts take into account the schools test scores and new this year, they focused more on testimony from the students themselves. Congratulations to all Oklahoma Schools that made the grade!

We really can’t imagine a more difficult job; choosing best chef and restaurant in the country. We think Oklahomans should sweep all categories!

• Order Up: 3 Okies have been named among the best by the James Beard Foundation. They are Broken Arrow’s NATV Restaurant Chef Jacque Siegfried, Tulsa’s il seme Chef Jordan Hawley, and Doctor Kustom Chef and Owner Alexander Figueira that’s located at Tulsa’s Mother Road Market.

• I’d Like to Thank: The James Beard Awards were established in 1990 and recognize exceptional talent and achievement in the culinary arts, hospitality, media and broader food system. Nominees demonstrated commitment to equity, community, and sustainability. The 2024 Restaurant and Chef winners will be announced in Chicago June 10th.

The luck of the Irish has landed in Tulsa as the big festival is set for March 8th-10th.
