Tulsa and Northwest Arkansas Emerging as a 'Super Region’ Accelerating Economic Growth

In a strategic move towards economic growth, Tulsa and Northwest Arkansas are progressing towards forming a "super region," as per a recent report by Heartland Forward. This unique integration, termed the 412 Corridor after U.S. Highway 412, aims to merge different yet complementary infrastructures and areas of expertise.

  • Strategic Integration and Economic Clusters: Tulsa and Northwest Arkansas aim to foster growth by forming a "super region" or the 412 Corridor. They plan to build economic clusters of industries attracting talent and investment, leveraging overlaps in sectors such as transportation manufacturing, logistics, oil and gas production, and drone applications.

  • Concrete Steps and Partnerships: The two states put their collaboration into action through the Future Logistics and Advanced Mobility Engine (FLAME) grant application to the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Regional Innovation Engine program. Although the application didn't secure a grant, it was instrumental in forging cross-state and regulatory agency partnerships for future endeavors.
