Is that cooler weather we feel? Here are some ways to take advantage of it this weekend:

  • High Five For Turning Five: Join the Gathering Place's 5th Birthday Bash on September 8 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the PSO Reading Tree. This free, family-friendly event features party treats, music and dancing, face painting, lawn games, and even a life-size paint-by-number to make this milestone unforgettable!

  • Rev Your Engines For Route 66: Don't miss the 34th Annual Route 66 Blowout Car Show & Festival in Downtown Sapulpa on September 9th. This all-day event, presented by Sapulpa Main Street, features an annual car show, Food Court, Arts & Crafts Vendors, and an invitation to explore new downtown restaurants.

  • Mega Savings On Mini Items: Don't miss the Just Between Friends Tulsa Mega Sale from September 7th to 10th at the Tulsa Fairgrounds' Central Park Hall. Shop over 200,000 name-brand kids and baby items at 50-90% off retail, with new baby equipment at 25-50% off. General admission is free, and the event includes special presale events and a 50% off sale on the last day.

  • Sweat and Sway: At Guthrie Green on September 7th, shake up your fitness routine with a Thursday Bootcamp from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, led by Tess & Aaern. Then, groove into the weekend with Hip-Hop 918 on September 9th, a musical extravaganza from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM that celebrates 50 years of hip-hop. Wrap it up on September 10th with a morning Zumba session with Ariane from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and stick around for Sunday Concert and Salsa night from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

  • Color Your World: Witness the city burst into vibrant hues at the third annual Sunny Dayz Mural Festival in Tulsa's Pearl District on September 9th, from 12 PM to 8 PM. This year's art extravaganza will feature 25 brand-new murals crafted by 41 artists, a musical stage lineup, a plethora of local vendors, food trucks, and kids' activities—all in a free and family-friendly setting.

  • Paws And Petals: On Second Saturday Dog Days at Tulsa Botanic Garden, dog owners are invited to bring their well-behaved, leashed pets for a garden stroll from 10 AM to 1 PM. Although the garden usually prohibits canine visitors, this special event allows them, provided they are leashed on a non-retractable 6-foot leash and have current vaccinations and registrations.

  • Overture: The Tulsa Symphony Orchestra (TSO) inaugurates its 2023-2024 season with a performance featuring the iconic first four notes of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. Sterling Elliot, a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient and the winner of the Senior Division of the 2019 National Sphinx Competition, will be the evening's cello soloist.

Have a great weekend! We will see you right back here on Monday.

Tulsa’s Craft Beer Scene Comes of Age

Pippin’s Taproom

Ah, Tulsa! Land of country music, Art Deco architecture, and—surprise!—a burgeoning craft beer community. Let's tap into how this Oklahoma city is brewing up a business buzz that's too tempting to resist.

  • From Passion To Pint: Dave and Desiree Knott, founders of High Gravity Fermentations, took their hobby from the garage to the marketplace in 2004. With over 50 types of grains and a slew of homebrewing classes, they've practically written the ABCs of IPA for Tulsa.

  • Cheers to New Laws: An Oklahoma legislation shift in 2018 uncorked on-site beer sales, giving smaller breweries a shot at the taproom dream. The Knotts, ever the hopportunists, opened their own taproom next to their store.

Ready to foam at the mouth with excitement? Brew your way over to the original article to get the full pour on Tulsa's craft beer revolution HERE.
