New Affordable Housing Development is Coming to North Tulsa

Green Country Habitat For Humanity

The shovels are out on a new apartment complex that will offer 7 units for affordable living.

  • Shiny and New: The apartments are designed to match surrounding neighborhoods and will be built near Admiral and Harvard. The rentals will help Green Country Habitat for Humanity clients with an affordable place to live while they are working through the program to gain home ownership.

  • The American Dream: Boomtown Development Company will be building the new units from the ground up and project leaders expect to have the project filled up before completion. The single level, two bedroom one bathroom apartments will include appliances, a fenced backyard and rent will include all bills paid.

YMCA Will Break Ground on a New 35,000 SF Facility in Tulsa

Greater Tulsa YMCA

The Tulsa YMCA is opening yet another family friendly space for health, wellness, and community for all ages.

  • Ground Breaking Greatness : The YMCA of Greater Tulsa will break ground today on a new site located at 909 West 23rd Street. The Anne and Henry Zarrow YMCA will offer three indoor fields, state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, exercise programming, youth development, after-school programs and more.

  • Endless Fun in Enid: The Enid YMCA is expanding it’s existing site with a lobby, new front desk area, nursery, restroom facilities, and administration area. A cardio free weight area will be moved and upgraded and there are also plans to build a teen fitness arcade for gaming while growing strong.

Local Organization Reminds Parents About Free Resources for Post Pandemic Health

Tulsa Area united Way

Tulsa Area United Way recently released a study sharing ways that families can help children that were affected by challenges intensified by the pandemic.

  • Reading Resources: TAUW wants parents to remember there are plenty of free resources for parents to use to amp up their children’s armor against lingering lockdown challenges. Organizations like Reading Partners, the Parent Child Center of Tulsa, the Child Advocacy Network are community resources available.

  • 4 Areas Of Improve: The findings say that physical health, safety and well-being, mental health, and academic achievement are 4 topics that teens and young children need help with after months of not being in a classroom surrounded by their peers.

Calling All Artists! Applications Are Open for $50,000 in Tulsa Vision Art Grants

Taking all applications, the City of Tulsa’s Art Commission has money to share with qualifying artists.

  • The Great Art: Tulsa Arts Commission, says Tulsa’s art and culture sector of the economy generates more money than agriculture and transportation combined. In 2016, after voters approved $2.25M in funding, the City began working out how to spark creativity and the local economy through art and culture.

  • Art Dreams Granted: $150,000 a year is up for grabs for art grant recipients who must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit or who could also be an individuals or groups who are funded by a nonprofit. The smallest grant amount is $5,000 and the largest amount is $50,000.
