Devastation in Downtown, Drone Videos Show Damage of Destroyed Restaurants and Apartments

Tulsa Fire Department

Drone video of the fire that broke out in Tulsa’s East Village shows two of Tulsa’s favorite restaurants a total loss.

  • Love for Lowood: A Saturday night fire destroyed Lowood and Hodges Bend and the apartments above the once booming businesses. While firefighters investigate how the fire got started, the community is coming together to help fund the clean-up, rebuilding and lost pay for employees. Despite the roof collapse, there were no injuries.

  • Hugs for Hodges Bend: Both restaurants released this statement: “On Saturday evening, the East End Village was struck with tragedy and our hearts are breaking for our Lowood and Hodges Bend employees as well as for the residents who have been affected by the fire. While we have been struggling this evening and morning, we feel incredibly held by the Tulsa Community. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the outpouring of love and support you have shown our team. If you have a desire to help, please consider donating to the gofundme.”

  • Bridge the Gap: The old pedestrian bridge between 31st St. and 21st St. along Riverside was taken out in the spring of 2021 after Tulsa’s Gathering Place was complete and open to the public. The new build will be called Williams Crossing to honor Williams Companies, a major private donor toward the project.

  • No Troubled Waters Here : Project leaders say the bridge is complete and connected from side to side but it’s not quite ready for a stroll just yet. The on track Williams Crossing and Zinc Lake are slated to open on Labor Day 2024.
