Cell Phone Network Outage Forces Screen Time Break
What did you do yesterday while your cell phone was out of commission?
Out But Not Down: While AT&T and several other cell companies dealt with a nationwide cell service outage, some customers took it as a moment to stop and smell the roses. Others where highly inconvenienced. It was a little throwback to life without fast technology. Cue the Little House on the Prairie Memes.
You’re Breaking Up: So what happened? AT&T said the outage was caused by the application and execution of an incorrect process used as they were expanding the network. They said it’s not a cyber attack. The outage was inconvenient but phones were left in SOS mode, which did allow for emergency calls. There was a peak of about 73,000 reports of interrupted service early in the day.
