  • Off With a Bang: Ring in the new year with a 5K chip-timed race that starts at 11:45p or join the one mile fun run that starts at 11p New Years Eve. RunnersWorld Tulsa is hosting the River West Festival Park event as a fun way to say goodbye to 2023.

  • Slow and Steady: Be sure to wear your party attire and start 2024 with a run under the moon. Enjoy fireworks at the stroke of midnight, a water and champagne stop at the halfway point, a finishers medal for 5K runners and treats at the finish line. So put some fresh batteries in the headlamp and lace up for a fresh start!

City of Tulsa Eligible for $75M After Being Named a Tech Hub

Tulsa has a chance to apply for up to $75M in federal funding to help with the development of T-town tech industries.

  • Let’s Get Technical: It’s a pretty big deal folks! The fact that the U.S. Economic Development Administration thinks the former oil capitol of the world is now a tech hub, is massive. A group of organizations led by Tulsa Innovation Labs will apply for the funding which would help advance the development of autonomous systems like unmanned aerial systems, drones, cybersecurity and generative AI.

  • New Jobs Much? With this new tech hub designation the Greater Tulsa Region is set to capture $4B of the $1.36T global autonomous systems market, with the goal of creating nearly 200,000 new jobs in the next decade.

University of Tulsa Announces 2024 Football Season Line-Up

The Golden Hurricane and the American Athletic Conference have announced the opponents that will be storming the football field next season.

  • Tulsa Touchdown: One of the big home games listed will be September 14th as TU takes on the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Skelly Field. 2024 will be The AAC's second season with 14 football-playing institutions as Army West Point joins the conference.

  • On the Road: TU says fans who were not 2023 season ticket holders can purchase 2024 season tickets by placing a deposit. While all of the game days are not out, let alone times, we’re thrilled to see the opponents list and coaches TU will be facing.

American Airlines Tulsa Base Receives $22M for Maintenance Base Enhancements

Simply put, this announcement is huge for Tulsa. It’s money in the bank for our big maintenance base and more jobs on the way.

  • Show Me the Money: Talk about a safe landing! American Airlines was awarded $22M from the State of Oklahoma’s Business Expansion Incentive Program. This means big growth and improvements to the airline’s maintenance base and engine repair and overhaul facility also known as Tech Ops-Tulsa. The funds will be distributed over the course of three years.

  • Flying Funding: The latest money announcement is in addition to the new $31.6M engine shop capital investment and ongoing $350M improvement project made by American to modernize machinery. This solidifies American Airlines presence in Tulsa since 1946 and also leads to more than 300 new high-paying jobs.

Tulsa Chamber of Commerce Releases Year in Review Report

It’s no slouch. The Tulsa Regional Chamber reports bringing $1.6B (yes, that’s billion) in new capital investments to the region in 2023.

  • A Pat on the Back: The Chamber released its annual report with highlights that are worth celebrating. They call it ‘Tulsa’s Future’ an initiative that brought new business to town, and supported the creation of 3,234 jobs with an average salary of more than $95,347.

  • Highlights Worth a Hooray: The report lists proof that T-town and surrounding areas knows how to roll out the red carpet. The Chamber hosted 56 site visits for prospective companies and initiated 88 new projects. It also Provided externship opportunities to 33 Black Tulsa-area high school students through the Tulsa’s NextGEN Talent program.
