The City of Tulsa Wants Your Input on a Route 66 Project

Tulsa Daily

We know the area at Southwest Boulevard and Riverside Drive as Crybaby Hill where Tulsa Tough cyclist pedal though a tough climb but City leaders want it to be more than a once a year attraction.

  • Kicking Around Ideas: The City has $6.5M in Vision 2025 funds to use for a new project to attract visitors wanting to get their kicks on Tulsa’s Route 66. The area up for a makeover was formally planned for a hotel and tower with vintage cars on display, but it fell through.

  • Driving Home Development: Some good ideas where thrown out at a recent public input meeting like an observation tower, giant statue, or vintage diner. Some want the area to fit in with the local neighborhood, while others want it to draw more tourists. City leaders hope for something that will make people want to stop and stay a while.
