Abandoned Sites That Are Tough to Clean Up Revitalized in Tulsa

DEQ & Hardesty National BMX Stadium

The Brownfields Program is going strong in Oklahoma. Tulsa’s latest success is the old Evans Fintube site now home to the Hardesty National BMX Stadium.

  • From Brownsfield to Boomtown: Revitalizing Tulsa is made possible in part by the Brownsfield Program. Just what is a Brownsfield? It’s a former industrial or commercial site where future use is affected by real or perceived environmental contamination. In a nutshell, it’s abandoned properties that are tough to properly clean up. The Environmental Protection Agency issues grants to cities that qualify for help. Tulsa has been successful.

  • Continuing the Clean-Up: The latest success story in Tulsa is BMX Stadium formerly and abandoned iron works company. If you've ever attended an event at the BOK Center, watched the Tulsa Drillers play ball at ONEOK Field, watched a concert at Guthrie Green, or spent a night at the Mayo Hotel, you have seen firsthand the benefits of Brownfields redevelopment here in Tulsa.
